Career Counselling at Schools
We are working with government schools to motivate the students to either continue higher studies after 10th or at least learn a skill that will enable them to acquire a job in the formal sector. Towards this, we first conduct a dialogue about the difference between a career and a job and the need to acquire skills especially in this competitive situation. We then invite professionals from different sectors to provide their personal stories about their careers, as well as provide information about different jobs, the skill level needed and the expected salaries as also the growth possibilities. We also take the students to visit the workplace (hospital, manufacturing unit etc.) so that they understand the possibilities. We also attempt to talk to their parents to ensure that they encourage the students to reach their goals. A one-on-one discussion with the students helps us figure out their interest levels, personal/financial problems, goals etc. and give us a chance to address them where possible. Last but not the least, a "Kaushalya Mela" on the school grounds, where skill providers are invited to interact directly with the students. We also encourage unemployed/under-employed youth from the community to participate in this as well.
We are also working with government schools to institute career guidance services to their students, starting from the 9th grade. A counselor, from either our own staff or volunteers who have the necessary qualifications and have undergone our training program, will be made available to a government school either on a scheduled (once a week, twice a month for example) or a permanent basis. These counselors are expected to have the necessary expertise, backed by our Information Systems, to provide relevant guidance and importantly, ensure the necessary follow up.
This service is free, both to the student and the school.

Career Awareness Materials
We are producing videos and documentaries about various relevant professions that then become important tools in our career awareness initiatives.
The video below was produced by us to provide an introduction to the metal working related careers of Fitter, Turner and Welder. Videos like this not only increase awareness about career possibilities, but also act as a strong starting point for career related discussions.
Career Mentors
We are putting together a Career Mentor program, where we strive to match individuals in our target group with mentors who have achieved progress and success in their relevant career path, in ways that will inspire, motivate and support the individual.
